Why We Built PNDS
Why We Built PNDS
We didn’t build PNDS to open yet another component marketplace. This industry has plenty of storefronts. What it lacks is a place that stands on the side of buyers and engineers and explains why a part is the right choice.
The problems we keep seeing
Buying components looks simple, but the reality is full of traps:
- Authenticity is hard to verify. Refurbished, refurbished-new, pulled, and substandard parts are common. One counterfeit part on a board can cost far more in rework, line stops, and customer returns than the part itself.
- Information asymmetry. Procurement gets a price; engineers need parametric headroom, package compatibility, and substitution risk. When that handoff happens through several layers, the requirements get diluted.
- Unstable supply. A part can go end-of-life or its lead time can stretch without warning. A BOM without a contingency plan can stall at any moment.
What PNDS does
We put our value into three things:
1. Genuine and traceable parts
We only work with channels that have clear, traceable provenance. We’d rather quote fewer part numbers than gamble on parts of unclear origin. Every part should be able to answer: “where did this come from?”
2. Component selection and BOM kitting
We don’t just return a price. We give you the selection logic: why this part, whether the parametric headroom is sufficient, whether there’s a safer alternative, and what the lead time and lifecycle look like.
3. Value for engineers and buyers
- For engineers: spend less time hunting parts, comparing specs, and dodging pitfalls — and more time on the design itself.
- For buyers: get vetted, actionable options instead of a pile of quotes you have to re-check yourself.
Our stance
We’d rather be seen as a supply-chain partner who knows the trade than as someone who just sells parts. Every article on this site is an attempt to turn real industry experience into something transparent and predictable — around selection, procurement, and cost reduction.
If component selection and supply are giving you trouble, submit your BOM through the BOM Hub and we’ll take a look together.
